Hovis was a love, a stunning Beardie who did a lot of winning as 
a youngster gaining a double Junior Warrant. Hovis show career was however 
short lived as one day he left his top teeth in the granite of our kitchen 
wall trying to get out to a bitch in season, one day they were there the 
next they were gone. Alan cleaned his teeth on the Friday night before a 
show after I had groomed him ready, next day at the show the judge opened 
his mouth and asked where are his teeth, we couldn't believe it, until we 
found the marks in the kitchen wall when we got home.

Hovis was also our water baby, he could detect water wherever it was 
from a mile away, on walks his nose would go up and off he would go, to be 
tracked down sat in the middle of a pond or a river or whatever water he 
managed to find. Hovis had a definite idea of how long a walk should be I 
used to have to put him on the lead at the half way point or he would 
simply turn around and head back to the car, sitting patiently there until 
we came back.
